Comptroller Olomu Strengthens Ties with Host Community, Visits Oba of Ijora

Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, in charge of the Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Customs Area Command (CAC), on Thursday, 13 June 2024, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulfatai Aromire, the Ojora of Ijora land and Iganmu kingdom in Lagos.

The Customs Area Controller visited the palace to strengthen ties and renew community relations between the Nigeria Customs Service and its host community, one of the cardinal points of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi.

According to him, the visit is to ensure that the directive of the CGC is fully complied with. “We’re here further to propagate the customs community relationship agenda of the CGC”.

“Customs Community Relationship forms one of the pillars, on which the Nigeria Customs Service cohabits, within the environment, and I made it clear that we shall leverage on strengthening the relationship between customs and all our stakeholders”, he emphasised.

He congratulated the king on his 30th anniversary on the throne while expressing optimism for a continuous relationship between the service and the community.

“I wish to congratulate you on behalf of Nigeria Customs Service on your 30th anniversary on the throne of your forefathers; we pray that the Almighty will keep you here for us in good health and prosperity.

In response, the Ojora of Ijora Kingdom expressed delight at the presence of his guests, as it is a first-of-its-kind experience for him and the community.

He assured his community’s support of the service and other security agencies.

He said, “Today is one of my happiest days, and I promise you that we will continue to cooperate with Customs and all the security agencies. If you have any issues with my people, try to inform me, and I will call them to order. My community and I will give you one hundred percent support,” he added.
