The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Tincan Island Port Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, has called for national unity geared towards continuous development of the nation.

The CAC made the call at a dinner organised by the Command on Thursday, 28th March 2024 to celebrate the 18th day of IFTAR with Muslim brethen as well as to usher in the celebration of Easter with Christian brethen.

Speaking at the occasion, Comptroller Nnadi highlighted the importance of coming together to uphold the nation in prayers for continuous development.

He applauded the Port Manager, Mr Sylvester Egede, “who reported recently to the port but has achieved a great feat due to the synergy between the Customs and other Sister security agencies.”

Speaking further, the CAC urged all stakeholders to be dedicated in their respective fields towards national growth and development.

The Area controller, expressed his appreciation towards the collaboration received by truck operators and craved their understanding that the resolved traffic situation, “is a positive development that will encourage seamless vehicular movement and multiple turnovers within a short time to the port, as compared to what was obtained in the past”.

He noted that the traffic situation had caused deaths to some road users and adversely affected the government’s drive for trade facilitation and ease of doing business.

Responding, the Port Manager of Tin Can Island Port, Mr Sylvester Egede gave insight and explained how a combination of long standing work experience, environmental awareness and institutional knowledge contributed to solving the traffic challenge that obstructed the flow of vehicular movement from Mile 2 to the Tincan Seaport.
