The Chief of Civil Military Affairs (CCMA), Maj Gen NC Ugbo with his team were at 3 Bde, Bukavu Barracks, for a one-day Sensitization Workshop for personnel of the unit. The Workshop was held at 3 Bde Sports Complex on 8 Feb 24. In his opening remarks, the CCMA stated that the Workshop was organised in line with the COAS Command Philosophy, and commitment of the NA to ensure that personnel remain professional during the conduct of operations and interaction with the civil populace.
Maj Gen NC Ugbo further explained that the complexities and volatility of our security environment, new technology and other circumstances make it imperative that our duties are carried out in line with international best practices and standards. The Comd 3 Bde, Brig Gen MA Sadiq during his welcome address, noted the benefits of the Workshop and emphasized that it is imperative for troops to know and understand the rules governing operations, and sustaining a cordial relationship with the civil populace. He added that the NA must endeavor to be the People’s Army.
The first lecture delivered was on ‘’Understanding the Applicable Rules during Military Operations’’ by Maj Bello Badamasi (Rtd), while the second lecture was titled, ‘’The Proper Conduct of the Nigerian Soldier within the larger Nigerian Society’’ and was delivered by Maj II Nibras. At the end of the lectures, personnel asked germane questions to clear their doubts during the interactive session. The highlight of the Workshop was the presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
