The Acting Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Mr. Murtala Aliyu Kankia, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.
During the visit, Mr. Kankia expressed a strong sense of familiarity and gratitude towards NITDA, stating, “When we come to NITDA, we feel like we are at home.” He acknowledged the invaluable support Mr. Abdullahi has provided to the CCB since assuming his role as D.G. and sought his advice on digitalisation matters.
Mr. Kankia congratulated the D.G. for advancing and raising the standard of NITDA and praised his outstanding leadership qualities which took NITDA to the highest level.
He highlighted some of the assistance NITDA has offered to CCB including but not limited to the clearance of ICT waivers for the CCB’s 2023 appropriation and the facilitation of digital initiatives in the Gwagwalada office.
He emphasized the importance of online asset declaration, which will require ICT equipment, and requested for further assistance from NITDA on ICT policy, forensic training, and website development.
In response, Mr. Abdullahi reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between NITDA and the CCB, tracing its roots back to former chairman Mr Sam Saba.
He emphasized the goal of strengthening CCB’s digital transformation by documenting processes and shifting organizational culture towards ICT.
Mr. Abdullahi proposed setting up a committee and appointing a contact person to facilitate collaboration between the two agencies.
Regarding the request for laptops, he mentioned that the relevant Director would assess inventory and consider including the request in the 2025 budget.
Mr. Abdullahi also underscored the urgency of launching the online asset declaration portal at the CCB, which has been delayed for too long, and committed to exploring all the areas mentioned for potential assistance.
Mr. S.I. Abu, Director of State and Local Government at the CCB, expressed gratitude to the D.G. of NITDA for his hospitality during the visit and for his commitment to supporting the CCB’s initiatives and digitalisation matters.
This visit marks a significant step in enhancing collaboration between the CCB and NITDA, paving the way for improved ICT integration within the Bureau.
