Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has addressed widespread complaints regarding delays in issuing transcripts and allegations of bribery associated with the process.
In a statement signed by the University Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, the institution acknowledged the concerns and outlined measures to resolve the issues.
“The Management has noted with dismay the recent concerns regarding delays in the issuance of transcripts and the allegations of bribery associated with the process,” the statement read. “We take these matters very seriously, and we want to assure you that we are committed to maintaining the integrity and trust of our university.”
The Registrar disclosed that measures have been introduced to simplify the transcript collection process.
“The Registrar’s office has implemented a series of measures designed to ensure that all students can receive their transcripts in a timely manner without encountering unnecessary difficulties,” Aliyu stated.
The university announced an investigation into the bribery allegations and stated that any individual found guilty of unethical practices would face disciplinary action under university policy.
“We are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the bribery allegations. Any individual found to be engaging in unethical practices will face disciplinary action in accordance with university policy,” he assured.
The statement also urged graduates and stakeholders to report any suspicious activities or provide information regarding the bribery claims.
“If you have any information regarding bribery or any suspicious activities related to transcript collection, we urge you to come forward and share your concerns with the Registrar’s office. Your input is invaluable in helping us address these issues promptly and effectively,” the statement concluded.
