Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared President Muhammadu Buhari winner of Saturday’s presidential election and returned him as duly elected.
Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) polled 15,199,847 to defeats Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Abubakar, a former vice President scored 11,262,978 votes.
Declaring the result at about 4:38am on Wednesday, The Returning Officer for the 2019 presidential elections, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said “That Muhammadu Buhari having satisfied the requirements of the law, having scored the highest number of votes is hereby returned elected.”
Prof Yakubu announced that certificate of return will be issued to the President-elect and Vice President-elect by 2 pm on Wednesday.
