President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Usman Alkali Baba as the acting Inspector General of Police.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Maigari Dangyadi, announced this today while briefing State House reporters.
He said Baba’s appointment is with immediate effect.
President Buhari had on February 4, 2021, extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector General of Police for three months.
Adamu had, however, spent two months and three days out of the three-month extension before Baba’s appointment.
The appointment of the acting Inspector General of Police is subject to the approval of the Council of State meeting expected to be convened soon.
Until his appointment, Baba was the Deputy Inspector General of Police, force criminal department, Force Headquaters.
Born on 1st March, 1963, in Geidam, Yobe State, Usman Baba was enlisted in the Nigerian Police Force on March 15th, 1988.
