In a major breakthrough, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted drug baron, Ogbonnaya Kevin Jeff, at his hideout in Lagos.

According to Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Ogbonnaya’s arrest is a significant milestone in the agency’s efforts to dismantle drug trafficking syndicates operating within the country.

Ogbonnaya, described as an international trafficker, has been linked to multiple drug trafficking offenses. He allegedly recruited young Nigerians as couriers to smuggle illicit substances into South Korea and laundered drug proceeds through the importation of electronics and other goods.

Investigations have uncovered that Ogbonnaya dispatched illicit drugs to South Korea and directed his couriers to smuggle methamphetamine into the country. The illicit drugs are estimated to be worth billions.

Marwa emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating drug trafficking. He assured that the NDLEA will continue to work with its international partners to ensure that Nigeria does not serve as a base for international drug trafficking operations.

The arrest of Ogbonnaya Kevin Jeff is a testament to the NDLEA’s commitment to fighting against illicit drug networks and their financiers.
