Trust TV, a television offshoot of the Media Trust Limited have been fined the sum of 5 million Naira by the Federal Govrnment of Nigeria.
The fine instituted on the TV station was communicated through the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
In a Press Statement issued by the Management of the Trust TV, the fine was “over the documetary titled ‘Nigeria’s Banditry: The Inside Story’, which was aired by the statiom on the 5th of March, 2022.
It added, the company received a letter on August 3, 2022 signed by Balarabe Shehu Ilela, the Director General of NBC.
Reacting to the incidence, Trust TV in the press statement, disclosed that it is still “studying the Commission’s action and weighing our option,” and further noted that it “wished to state unequivocally that as television station, we believe we were acting in the public interest by shedding light on the thorny issue od banditry and how it is affecting millions of citizens of our country,”
