Dr. Midala Usman Balami, the member representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, Borno State, has facilitated the enrolment of 100 financially disadvantaged members of his constituency into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for a period of one year.
The health insurance initiative targets vulnerable and affected population in Askira-Uba and Hawul Local Government Areas ,particularly disabled persons and other financially disadvantaged individuals, enabling them to access healthcare facilities and receive treatments free of charge.
This pilot intervention is in line with the lawmaker’s legislative agenda of improving healthcare services in rural communities of Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency, which is also in tandem with his community complementary mobile medical outreach which is still in pipeline and will be implemented at the appropriate time after putting in place all necessary protocols and arrangements in order to ensure sustainability of the initiative.
