Bazoum Mohamed wins presidential election in Niger Republic

Independent National Electoral Commission of Niger Republic (CENI) says Bazoum Mohamed of the ruling PNDS Tarayya has won a run-off election in Sunday’s by-elections.

The latest figures released by the commission show that Bazoum Mohamed got about 2 million 501 thousand votes.

Candidate of RDR Tchanji, Mahamane Ousmane, who came second, got more than 1 million 968 thousand votes.

BBC’s reports that the electoral commission (CENI) has announced the results for all 266 districts of the country.

The run-off election was held on Sunday between Mohammed Bazoum and his opponent Mahamane Ousmane. Bazoum was backed by a third-place finisher in the first round, and Ousmane was backed by 18 opposition parties.
