Bandits Kill Three Fishermen in Sokoto Village Raid

Suspected armed bandits have attacked a village in Sokoto State, killing three fishermen and rustling an unspecified number of livestock.

The incident occurred in Lakurawa village, Gudu Local Government Area of the state.

According to sources, the bandits invaded the village at about 10pm on Tuesday and opened fire on the residents, killing three fishermen and injuring several others.

The attackers also rustled an unspecified number of livestock and made away with the animals.

Confirming the incident, the Sokoto State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, said the command had received the report and was investigating the incident.

Abubakar said, “We received a report that some bandits attacked a village in Lakurawa and killed three people. The incident happened at about 10pm on Tuesday.

“The attackers also rustled some livestock and made away with them. We are investigating the incident and we will get to the bottom of it.”

The police spokesperson said the command was doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The incident has caused fear and panic among residents in the area, with many calling for increased security measures to protect lives and property.
