Arewa Pastors Forum For Peace (APFFP), Taraba state chapter, has organized it’s 2020 state delegates convention.
The annual convention which was themed on unity, peace, and development, took place on Saturday 30th May, 2020 at World Harvest Church Magami Jalingo, Taraba state capital.
The APFFP State convention was organised by members to appraise developments on the Forum especially for change in leadership and to prepare for national convention holding later in the year in Jos, the headquarters of Plateau state.
The convention which was earlier planned to be low key and attended by delegates only, had the state secretary Rev. Dr. Philemon Saredau presented the score of the forum since inception in 2016, including the membership status, achievements, obstacles, the way forward amongst others.
Rev. Dr. Saredau during the convention solicited for cooperation of CAN leadership, government, and individuals to achieve peace and sustainable development in Taraba state.
He said the leadership in the state will be changed shortly before the national convention.
The convention further prayed for the leaders at national and state level especially for the dividends of democracy and celebrated the national president of the forum.
In attendance were more than 50 delegates drawn from all over the states and across different church denominations and was held in strict compliance to COVID-19 precautionary measures such as wearing of face masks, washing of hands, social distancing, no hugging etc.
The guest speaker Rev. Dr. Victor Falack, Bursar Taraba state University Jalingo spoke on the theme Unity,Peace and Development.
He highlighted the need for all to unite and promote peace which in turn can attract long lasting development in the society.
On his part, the state Acting Chairman of APFFP, Bishop David K. Nwirim expressed his appreciation towards the delegates who took the pain and risk to grace the occasion despite COVID-19 pandemic .
”Today APFFP is witnessing another turn of events in her activities. In May 2017, APFFP was formally inaugurated and launched in Taraba state. It was brought to us on November 11th and 12th 2016 before it was formally inaugurated on 27th May, 2017.” He said
He however lamented the ongoing campaign against the forum especially by the CAN leadership in the state who refused to formally acknowledge the Forum’s activities.
In his remark, the Chairman commended the efforts of APFFP state Secretary Rev. Dr. Philemon Saredau for effectively handling issues affecting members in the state. He also paid tribute to the state Chairman of the Forum, Bishop John Daboh for his good works towards the effective running of the Forum’s activities.
The Acting Chairman ended his remark by soliciting for cooperation from CAN leadership in Taraba and the state government to work with APFFP for propagation of peace and mutual trust in the society.
The delegates at the end prayed for the success of leaders at all levels and against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, and wished the Forum’s vision bearer happy birthday, urging him to reposition the forum leadership at national level.
