The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State recently held the 8th and 9th APC Members Kano State House of Assembly Forum dinner, a special event honoring prominent party members, including former Speakers Rt. Hon. Kabiru Rurum and Rt. Hon. Hamisu Chidari.

The occasion, attended by party leaders and members, aimed to strengthen unity within the APC as they gear up for future electoral challenges.

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the APC, who was represented by Abdullahi Abbas, the state party Chairman, emphasized the crucial role of unity in reclaiming power from the current New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) administration.

In his speech, Ganduje underscored that unity was the party’s only path to victory, stating, “Unity is the only way out for us; it’s the only option we have to get what we want.” He further criticized the current administration, asserting that the state was being mismanaged and that a change was imminent.

Addressing the leadership of NNPP, Ganduje remarked, “I always get surprised when Rabiu Kwankwaso says he is the one who has people. I can swear to God, if not for our issues that caused some of us to leave, he wouldn’t have won any election in the state.”

He expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the next election, with disillusionment growing among Kwankwaso’s former supporters.

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, also weighed in on the need for unity, stressing that the party was ready to reclaim Kano State.

“If the elections were held today, we wouldn’t have any cause to be afraid,” he stated.

Ata also acknowledged the positive impact of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, particularly in supporting Kano with housing projects, noting that the state received 500 housing units, double the allocation to other states.

In his address, Abdul’azeez Gafasa, Chairman of the Forum, commended the honorees for their contributions to the party and reaffirmed the commitment to party unity.

“Our leaders are trying and have tried by bringing us together,” Gafasa remarked, encouraging continued mutual support and collaboration as the party looks toward future success.
