Governor of Jigawa State, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has been cleared by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest in the presidential primary of the party slated for June 6, 2022.
Badaru Abubakar was cleared yesterday by the John Odigie-led presidential screening committee of the APC.
According to Auwalu Danladi Sankara, the governor’s media aide, Badaru Abubakar was cleared the verification of his membership and financial statuses as well as his academic credentials, and other requirements for a presidential candidate as stipulated in the Nigerian Constitution.
The screening of the governor has ended speculations that he has withdrawn from the race for another aspirant.
Muhammad Badaru Abubakar is among the 28 aspirants contesting to be APC Presidential candidate for the 2023 general election.
In another news, the member representing Kazaure/Roni/Yankwashi/Gwiwa Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, Muhammad Gudaji Kazaure, has accused Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of planning to sabotage the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general election in 2023.
Gudaji Kazaure was defeated in the APC primary election by Kazaure local government chairman, Mukhtar Zanna.
Gudaji Kazaure in a statement said he had earlier written a petition to the National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the alleged injustice done to him and what he claimed was a violation of the Electoral Act in the election of the party’s delegates.
The lawmaker said he sent petitions to INEC and the headquarters of the APC. He alleged that there was no Congress or delegate elections in Kazaure/Roni/Yankwashi/Gwiwa federal constituency.
He said the majority of the delegates who voted during the primary election were listed by party officials without any delegate congress elections by Kazaure local government chairman who was among the aspirants and later declared a winner in the election.
