Two days after a truck failed brake and crushed four people to death at the Tipper garage area of Dutse on the Dutse-Bwari highway, another mini truck reportedly crashed at the same point yesterday.
The trailer reportedly failed brake while descending the Usuma dam hill and crushed at least five vehicles and two tricycles that were picking passengers by the traffic light at the junction.
A witness, who spoke with Abuja Metro, said the accident happened some minutes to 11 am, killing at least one person and injuring many others.
The unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in charge of Dutsen-Alhaji, Luka Wuna Friday, confirmed that one person died at the spot with many injured victims rushed to Kubwa General Hospital.
He said not less than five vehicles and two tricycles were damaged by the truck, attributing the accident to brake failure.
When Abuja Metro visited the scene, bags of onions inside the truck were seen scattered on the highway.
Abuja Metro reports that the accident site has long been a danger zone due to the difficult terrain, with multiple fatal accidents being recorded frequently.
