The African Climate Change Research Centre (ACCREC), a non-profit and non-political registered organization with a special status in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Secretariat, Bonn, Germany, as United Nations Climate Observer Organization, hereby appoint Dr. Abdulrazak Baba as its Ghana Country Director.
The news of the appointment was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Nura Jibo, United Nations Designated Contact Point on Climate Change (UN-DCP) and Secretary-General of African Climate Change Research Centre(ACCREC).
Dr. Abdulrazak is presently the Cluster Leader, Institutional Capacity & Future Scenarios; Compact Coordinator, CDTO-TAAT at Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), Ghana. Dr. Abdulrazak contributed immensely in conducting research and leading research faculties internationally on smart agriculture. He conducted researches on improving plants and seeds for resilient agriculture at the Universidade de Brazilia and Embrapa, Brazil.
Dr. Baba is presently contributing to the development of resource mobilization and partnership strategies. He supports the development of Africa Agricultural Research Program (AARP) and Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT); Contributing in the country implementation of the Science Agenda for Agriculture in Africa (S3A); Contributing in the development of funding proposals for Continental initiatives within the Science for Agriculture Consortium (S4AC); Reviewing of annual workplan, reserach reports and publications from PARI countries; Supporting the promotion of Food and Nutritional Security for Sustainable Agricultural(FNSSA) in Africa.
He is very seriously contributing to the development of FARA, Sub-regional Organizations (SROs), National Agricultural Research and Innovation Systems (NARIS), Ministries, Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Plan (CAADP) national teams and Farmer organizations to articulate and contribute to a common national, regional and continental Agricultural Research for Development (AR4D) agenda and priorities in the context of Science Agenda for Agriculture in Africa (S3A).
Dr. Abdulrazak is to serve in this capacity for five (5) years. The Centre wishes him well in discharging his responsibilities.
