The Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali baba has recommended to the Police Service Commission the suspension of super cop DCP Abba Kyari.
DCP Kyari was indicted in a case of fraud by being party to Ramon Olorunwa Abbas – Hushpuppi – who confessed defrauding a Qatari man. The indictment was revealed in a US judicial document.
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc has recommended the immediate suspension of DCP Abba Kyari, the Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), from the Service of the Nigeria Police Force, pending the outcome of an ongoing internal investigations touching on him,” Nigerian police spokeman Frank Mba said on Sunday morning.
According to the police, the suspension is to allow internal investigation by the police. A special investigation panel was since empanelled to internally investigate Mr. Kyari.
