Kano spends over N4 billion annually on feeding boarding students

Kano State Government said it is spending over N4.6 billion annually to feed about 50 thousand public boarding students in the state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Sanusi Kiru, said this on Wednesday in Kano to mark his one year in office, adding that the State Executive Council had approved the review of the feeding fees of students for contractors request due to the hike in food items.

According to Kiru, the incumbent administration is also spending N93 million on feeding of students of Bi-lingual College, Niamey, Niger Republic, just as another N107 million will be spent on pupils who are resuming school soon.

The commissioner also said academic activities would commence at the five new mega unity schools in each of the five emirates in Kano State on January 2021 with 303 students in each of the schools.
