Bauchi State Government received no fewer than 196 Almajiris evacuated from the Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela, received the pupils at General Hassan Usman Katsina Unity College Bauchi on behalf of the state government.
He said the pupils would undergo medical screening and other necessary investigation before being handed over to their parents.
He said the state governor, Bala Mohammed, had given approval that the Almajiri be accommodated at the General Hassan Katsina Unity College, Yelwa, pending when they would be declared safe to reunite with their parents.
Tela, who is also the Chairman of the Bauchi State Task Force on COVID-19 and Lassa Fever, said the medical screening was to ensure that the pupils had not been infected with the coronavirus.
