As the battle for ministerial nominations rages on across the States, there is palpable silence amongst chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Taraba State unlike their counterparts in other States who are at daggers drawn over each other.

This has however not stopped the mentioning of some names as possible ministerial nominees.

Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq-Adamu

Sadiq as he is fondly called in the oil and gas circle is a Law graduate of Bayero University Kano, (BUK), and a lawyer with over 20 years post call experience with vast experience in the oil and gas industry, he is currently the general counsel of Exxon Mobil a multi-national oil company and a member of the board of directors at various blue chip companies.

However, those against his nomination are of the opinion that he is not a party man, having not contributed or actively participated in the politics of the state. He hails from Wukari Local Government Area in the state.

Prof. Dalhatu Umar Sangari

The Wukari born politician and scholar, was first elected Senator in 1998 during Abacha’s political experimental and was subsequently reelected Senator upon the return of the Nation to democracy in 1999, the highly articulate and renowned gentleman is known to be a consistent politician who has never changed political platforms.

The Senator who currently lectures at the Nassarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), and serves as the Chairman of the Centre for Environmental Studies at the University. He is a member of the BOT of the APC, he is said to be the most qualified contender for the position, and he also hails from Wukari Local Government Area of the state.

Bobboi Kaigama Bala

The immediate past president of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and also that of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Mr kaigama who ran for Governor in the last elections before he lost at the party primaries was the DG of the APC campaign council in the last elections in the state, he is said to have the ears of the powers that be in Abuja. He hails from Sardauna LGA of the state.

 Ezekiel Irmiya Afukunyo

The current chairman of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, fondly called Papa Sisi by his friends and associates is a known opposition chieftain having run for Governor on the platform of opposition Congress for Progressive Change till the emergence of the All Progressives Congress.

He is said to be a respected opposition political figure in Abuja and also has the ears of some powerful forces in the Villa. He also hails from Wukari LGA of the State.

Uba Maigari Ahmadu

A graduate of Law from the University of Maiduguri, with over 20 years post call experience at the bar, is also said to be making frantic efforts to be nominated as minister, he first came into limelight when he emerged as deputy governor and was impeached shortly thereafter, during his time as deputy governor he was dubbed the action deputy governor for his presence and electrifying speeches at state functions.

The former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs last public office was his stint as National Commissioner at the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA). He hails from Donga Local Government Area of the state.
