The exercurtive Governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said the Adamawa state government is abolishing any form of school fees in public schools.
The Governor made this statement while hosting the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party, and its gubernatorial candidate in the just concluded election, Senator Abdulaziz Nyako who paid him a courtesy visit at Dougirei House, Yola, on Monday.
Governor Fintiri noted that parents will start benefitting from September this year as school fees will no longer be an issue that will hinder their children from acquiring knowledge because according to the Governor, ensuring free access to education will be a priority to him.
This act of making access to public school will sent a message to the people of his commitment to making education affordable to all children in the state especially those from poor families.
He said “Our plan is to make sure that government schools can compete with private schools in quality of education in the state.”
“We are also going to recover all school lands encroached on by some people.” He added.
