The embattled Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II has fired back at the allegations of financial misappropriation labeled against him the Kano State government.
Recall that the Kano State anti-graft Commission had Emir Sanusi II queried on Thursday and demanded response within 24 hours over allegations of mismanagement of N3.4 billion belonging to the Emirate council between 2014 and 2017.
In a letter dated Friday 7 June, 2019 and addressed to the office of the secretary to Kano state government, Emir Sanusi II denied mismanaging N3.4 billion belonging to the Kano Emirate..
In a statement issued by the acting secretary of the Kano Emirate Council, Malam Abba Yusuf, Emir Sanusi noted that the allegation against him by the state government is baseless since he is not the accounting officer of the Emirate who could have easy access to the Emirate accounts.
Emir Sanusi II further added that when he was appointed emir in 2014, the exact amount in the accounts of the Kano Emirate Council was only N1, 893, 378, 927.38, and not the N3.4 billion the Kano state anti-graft Commission said was misappropriated under his watch.
