At least 10 people are reported dead after a boat carrying passengers across a river capsized in southwestern part of China on Friday.
According to the state owned broadcasting station, China Central Television (CCTV), rescuers are still looking for the remaining eight people who were still missing.
About 11 people were successfully rescued including the boat’s Captain in remote Banrao village of Guizhou province.
The Police took custody of the Captain for further investigation. While the 10 other injured passengers are currently receiving emergency treatment in the hospital.
Reports made available by China’s Ministry of Emergency Management indicates that the capsized boat was a locally built boat rather than obtained from a licensed manufacturer.
