Allow me to extend congratulations, both personally and on behalf of genuine lovers of democracy, on your victory in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Adamawa state, I wish you continued success in performing the tasks ahead; it was a victory for democracy and indeed the good people of Adamawa state. I commend the electoral umpire for ensuring credible exercise, the security operatives for their neutrality, as well as other contestants for their magnanimity prior, during and after the election.
Your Excellency, you are coming at a time when problems are massive, when the appetite for ‘true change’ is high, when poverty is on the rise, and the good people of Adamawa came out en masse and stood by you to ensure that the change is realized, a change people believe, will usher in ‘fresh air’ and better the lives of the citizens. As a payback thus, I humbly request that you reciprocate the uncommon support you received from the people by applying the instruments of good governance over the next four years in a way that in the end, the people will be able to appreciate that the trust and confidence reposed on you was well placed.
The state governor generally is the most visible state official and the focal point of state government and politics. This leads to the collective expectation that governor will be strong, dynamic leader in the state. For much of Adamawa state history, this has been a tough task for the consecutive governors in the state due to either lack of people-oriented agenda and/or the political will to implement that agenda within a specified tenure.
As a concern citizen, and a development advocate I earnestly wish to urge that you uphold the vision of the people by bringing remarkable changes such as improved infrastructure, Agriculture, security, health, education as well as Youth & Women’s empowerment. Adamawa is one of the cosmopolitan states in the Country, therefore, as a leader, you will need to run a responsive and all-inclusive government that is fair and just to every section of the people. The State is well noted for a rich cultural heritage, with good vegetation, and many untapped natural resources, your government should take advantage of these nature’s gifts to improve the state internally generated revenue (IGR).
In conclusion, all elective public office holders account to their people after every 3+ years, therefore, try as much as possible to minimize distractions. As you step into the office come May 29, 2019 your ultimate priority should be the people, you must plan to ensure that prior promises are significantly fulfilled accordingly. Also, I wish to appeal to you to continue with the ongoing infrastructural developments across the state. I most sincerely pray you do not renege on your promises to deliver on the welfare of workers in the state. I am absolutely confident that you will deliver through selfless commitment to service in all spheres, just as you demonstrated in 2014.
I wish you successful tenure ahead.
