The Special Task Force established by Governor Senator Uba Sani to combat gang activities and phone snatching in Kaduna State has recovered arms and apprehended 398 suspects across various locations.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Hassan Mansir, disclosed that the swift and targeted raids, driven by credible intelligence, also prompted many criminals to flee Kaduna State out of fear of arrest.

The task force was established following the tragic killing of a Naval Officer by suspected phone snatchers at the Kawo flyover bridge.

According to the PPRO, some of the recovered items include a locally made pistol, 29 stolen mobile phones, and some quantity of illicit drugs.

He said, “One Mathew Adamu ‘m’ a notorious criminal known for terrorizing communities in parts of Kaduna State, was arrested by the Task Force.”

The task force’s swift and targeted raids, based on credible intelligence, have not only led to arrests but also reportedly forced many criminal elements to flee out of Kaduna State for fear of being caught.

The Police Public Relations Officer assured the people of the state that the clampdown was only the beginning, and raids and intelligence-led operations would continue relentlessly until the state is completely sanitized of all criminal elements.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has directed all DPOs, tactical teams, and operatives attached to the task force to remain on high alert and committed to restoring peace and order across the state.

Some of the stolen phones have already been returned to their rightful owners after proper identification and verification.
