The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rainfall across several parts of the country between Sunday and Tuesday.
According to NiMet’s weather outlook released Saturday, morning thunderstorms are expected over parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Edo, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Anambra, and Lagos, with further activity later in the day across the North-East and North-West, including Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Jigawa, Borno, Gombe, and Bauchi.
“In the afternoon/evening hours, there are prospects of thunderstorms with rains,” the agency stated, covering areas in both northern and north-central states such as FCT, Niger, Kogi, Nasarawa, Kwara, Benue, and Plateau.
For the South, NiMet forecasts morning rains in parts of Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom, extending through Monday and Tuesday.
The agency cautioned that “strong winds might precede the rains,” urging the public to take safety measures. Airline operators were also advised to “avail themselves of weather reports for effective planning.”
