Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially accepted the resignation of Engr. Muhammad Diggol, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation, with immediate effect.

This announcement was made in a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.

Engr. Diggol, who was initially appointed Commissioner for Transportation when Governor Yusuf assumed office in 2023, was later reassigned to oversee the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation. He held the position until his resignation today.

Governor Yusuf expressed his sincere gratitude to Engr. Diggol for his “selfless service, commitment, dedication, and exemplary work ethic” during his time as a member of the State Executive Council. The Governor extended his best wishes to Diggol for success in his future endeavors.

This development follows the suspension of Engr. Diggol by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in October of the previous year. He was suspended along with Abdullahi Bichi, the Secretary to the Kano State Government.

Hashimu Dungurawa, NNPP’s chairman in Kano, stated that the suspension was a result of multiple complaints from the party’s ward and local government leadership, citing disrespect towards the party and its leadership.

Dungurawa emphasized that the party could not tolerate actions that undermine its structure and authority. “After receiving formal complaint letters from their wards, and upon confirmation of the allegations by the local leadership, we had no other option but to take this decisive step,” Dungurawa explained.
