Aspira Nigeria Limited has confirmed plans to award scholarships to 60 indigent students from Bayero University, Kano (BUK) this year as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The announcement was made by Aspira’s General Manager, Abbas Jaafar, during a visit by the university’s top management team, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Management Services, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani.
Jaafar assured that the scholarship funds will be disbursed soon, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting education.
In addition to the scholarships, Jaafar highlighted Aspira’s contributions to education in Kano, including the renovation of 33 public schools and the provision of over 400 tables and chairs. He stressed that investing in education is crucial for addressing security challenges in Nigeria.5Accompanied by Marketing Manager Santhosh Kumar Nair, Jaafar also noted that Aspira continues to employ BUK graduates and will maintain this recruitment strategy.6Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for Aspira’s ongoing support, including the scholarships and the Laundromat project at BUK’s Old Campus.7BUK’s Registrar, Dr. Haruna Aliyu, encouraged Aspira to explore further collaborations with the university, while Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Shansuddeen Umar, acknowledged the positive impact of the company’s interventions on the student community
