Netflix seeks NBC collaboration to promote local content

Netflix team led by the Director, Public Policy, Miss Shola Sani, paid a visit to the National Broadcasting Commissions, NBC Headquarters on Wednesday.

The aim of the visit L, according to the Lead, was “to discuss potential areas of Collaboration with NBC, particularly in the area of promotion, and publicity of local content on an international scale and to also, create awareness about Netflix’s Mode of Operation, as well as, request for involvement in policy making and legislation regarding the regulation of social media and the broadcast media airspace,”

Welcoming the team, Director General of NBC Mr Charles Ebuebu, stated that the visit marked an important milestone for the Commission in her engagement with Netflix.

He further commended the team for their dedication to promoting Nigerian cultural creativity which has not only showcased the richness of the nation’s culture but has also played a significant role in fostering international recognition for Nigerian talent.

He noted that “the Commission is ready to explore avenues for partnership and collaboration that will further elevate our creative industry and provide greater opportunities for talented filmmakers and content creators,” according to a statement by the Commission on its social media page.

“The visit, which marked the beginning of potential collaborations between both parties, would help promote content on a global scale, provide job creation within the local creative industry, and foster a conducive regulatory environment for digital platforms,” the statement concluded
