Mr. Charles Ebube the Director General of the National Brodcastinf Commission left Nigeria for Benin Republic to attend a workshop on access to information for cross border population.
The workshop aims to address the challenges and opportunities surrounding access to information for cross-border population, particularly those affected by multidimensional issues including security and their various repercussions on communities living alongside each other.
During his address, Mr. Ebuebu underscored the significance of the study, highlighting Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to complete the digital switchover process, while emphasising the importance of complying with ITU regulations to mitigate interference issues between regions.
The DG further stressed the vital role of access to information, stating the necessity for the free flow of information to foster unity among people and promote peaceful coexistence within border communities. He called for collaborative efforts among regulatory bodies across different countries to establish and enforce global standards in this regard.
Overall, in his remarks, the DG highlighted the importance of addressing information access challenges in regions and the critical role that cooperation among regulatory bodies play in ensuring effective communication and peaceful relations among cross-border population.
