A member representing Kano Municipal, Shaaban Sharada, has defected from All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Action Democratic Party, ADP.
Upon his defection, DAILY NIGERIAN exclusively gathered that the lawmaker joined the ADP and picked the governorship ticket of the party.
Credible sources at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC office in Kano said Mr Shaaban will fly ADP governorship flag alongside his running-mate, Rabiu Bako.
Mr Sharada, who is the chairman of House Committee on National Security and Intelligence, contested for the APC gubernatorial ticket but lost to the deputy governor of the state, Nasiru Gawuna.
The outspoken lawmaker was a member of G-7, a factional APC group once led by former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau.
Mr Sharada, a dogged political fighter, had braved a though political huddle and internal opposition to win the APC Reps ticket in 2019 and later won at the general election with a wide margin.
