NSCDC Reviews Security Strategies, Assures Nigerians of Safety of Life and Infrastructure

In view of the security challenges affecting the country, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has assured citizens that the scientific synergy and collaboration between the Corps and other security agencies will soon yield positive results.

Commandant General of Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni who declared this noted with optimism that security agencies are working tirelessly to bring about positive changes and called on the citizen not to allow fear and panic affect them.

Dr Audi stated this on Tuesday at the Corps National Headquarters, Abuja, explaining that effort is being geared towards confronting the menace of insecurity and reverse the ugly trend.

The Commandant General stated that the high powered meeting of Deputy Commandant Generals, Zonal Commanders and Commandants convened by him was necessitated by the urgent need to out an end to the quagmire.

According to the CG, “There is need to go back to the drawing table to brainstorm and come up with new strategies and methods of resolving the problems of insecurity in the country.

“I am charging you to rise up to the occasion by giving your best towards the maintenance of peace and order as Mr President has given us the marching order to decimate the hoodlums, bandits and all the enemies of Nigeria.

“Henceforth, l will hold Zonal Commanders and State Commandants responsible for any breach of peace or attack on any critical Infrastructure in your domains and I will not hesitate to show anyone who is not ready to drive this vision with us the way out”, CG concluded.

He charged the ACGs and Commandants to deploy their personnel effectively to secure citizens and protect National assets and infrastructure

Continuing he maintained, “NSCDC is a lead agency in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure. You are charged to continue to protect governments’ Critical infrastructures.

“Strategic efforts must be made to fight illegal bunkering to a stand, personnel must be adequately deployed to all CNAI sites like Railways, Telecommunications, Power installations and Correctional facilities, to secure our commonwealth”, CG maintained. .

Also, the Commandant General charged State Commandants and Zonal Commanders that attacks on correctional facilities in the country must be brought under check and tasked them to liaise with Controllers in different states to provide adequate support towards protection of the facilities.

While also calling on Zonal Commanders to ensure strict supervision of operations under their purview, Dr Audi reminded them that Nigerians were putting their hope on security agencies to bring about lasting solution to the serious menace of insecurity, saying the public must not be disappointed, hence, the need for continous review of modalities to confront the menace.

In another development, the CG restated his determination to uphold the welfare of officers and men of the Corps when he issued cheques worth over N19million meant for insurance benefits to next of kin of deceased personnel who paid the supreme price in active service.

He promised that as NSCDC personnel are involved in different operations across the nation he will do everything possible to ensure that their welfare is adequately catered for, describing those who paid the supreme price as heroes.

On current political activities, the NSCDC helmsman called on officers and men to remain apolitical and not to pitch tent with political parties against the interest of others.

For those who may be adamant to disobey the order, he stated clearly that they will definitely face sanctions commensurate with their offences.
