Officials of Jigawa state government will visit markets and villages to raise awareness on the importance of revenue generation.
A member of the Revenue Justice Unit, Dr Sa’id Umar, made the announcement on a Jigawa radio program.
Sa’id Umar, who presented an article at the first meeting of the Jigawa State Government on the importance of revenue collection, highlighted the importance of revenue collection for every government.
He said entrepreneurs, the poor and civil servants were paying their dues to further enable the government to undertake important development projects.
In his remarks, the chairman of the State Revenue Advisory Council, Muhammad Abdu Dutse, said they were monitoring the revenue collected by the government for the benefit of the people.
In his address, Chairman, Jigawa Civil Society Organizations, Comrade Musbahu Basirka, said the payment of tax must be in accordance with the law and order, adding that the organizations would continue to educate the public on the importance of giving taxes for the betterment of the society.
In another news, Jigawa State House of Assembly has amended some sections of the state audit law number two.
The amendment followed the receipt of a letter from Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar on the need to amend the state audit laws.
In the letter which was read by the Speaker, Alhaji idris Garba during the plenary session, the Governor said the amendment will provide additional power to the office of the state Auditor general and the local government auditors in budget, financial management and human resources development.
