A 50-year-old man, Alhaji Nuru Isah, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly beating his 24-year-old wife, Wasila Abdullahi, to death over a dispute about Ramadan meal preparations.
The incident occurred on March 1, 2025, at about 11:30 pm in the Fadamam Mada area, near Government Girls College, Bauchi. According to the police, the couple had an argument over food ingredients and fruits meant for breaking their Ramadan fast, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
Isah allegedly used a cane to strike his wife, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness inside their home. She was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her dead.
The police have recovered the cane used in the assault as evidence, and the victim’s body has been deposited in the mortuary pending an autopsy. The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, has assured the public that justice will be served.
