16 motorcyclists jailed for violating order in Jigawa

Police in Jigawa State have arrested 16 motorcyclists for violating the state government’s restriction order.

Police spokesman in the state, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Dutse.

He said the motorcyclists were arrested in Dutse for the offence of disobedience to an order duly promulgated by the state government.

He said all the motorcyclists were charged to court and sentenced to three months imprisonment with the option of fine.

SkyDaily reported that the Jigawa State Government had ordered restrictions in the movement of motorcycles from 10 pm to 6 am across the state.

The aim of the restriction order is to checkmate the activities of criminals in the state.

The command however noted that the restriction order still remains valid, advising the general public to abide by it.
