Gov Yusuf to unveil N10 billion housing scheme in Kano to address deficit

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has disclosed plan to flag off N10 billion housing scheme in the state to address increasing deficit of decent accommodation.

In a statement by Governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Governor Yusuf disclosed plan for the critical project at the 23rd state executive council meeting held at council chamber on Wednesday.

The Governor expressed concerns over housing deficit due to rapid urbanization and poor management of immediate past administration to invest more on affordable housing in the state.

Yusuf disclosed that the housing units when completed parts would be allocated to victims of flood in the state.

Earlier, the government announced the receive of N3 billion intervention from Federal Government to cushing the impact of the flood disaster which will be dostributed to victims.

Yusuf revealed that the amount was donated by the Federal Government to the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory as intervention for the 2024 flood disaster.

The governor further revealed that the money was remitted to the state treasury few months ago in preparation for onward distribution the the affected victims.

He added that the administration kept the money appropriately to identify the real victims who will benefit from the gesture of the Federal Government and ensure produnce, accountability and responsiveness in the process.

“Now that we are ready, we have all the lists of the victims, we know how much each victim will collect, so the distribution will commence,” the governor assured.

He said the housing scheme when completed, will support the Kwankwasoyya Gidi Gida administration’s efforts in supporting the less previledge of the society.
