Yobe SEMA rounds off 3-day Annual 2022 retreat with Learning Visit to Kano SEMA

The Management Staff and Volunteers of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA) led by the Executive Secretary Dr Mohammed Goje were at Kano State Emergency Management Agency this morning for learning and knowledge sharing as three-day retreat ended in Kano.

The purpose of the visit according to the ES was to interface and tap from vast experience of Kano SEMA in terms of their capacity and skills in containing high disaster cases in a complex environment like Kano.

In his brief remarks Goje highlighted that the objectives behind pulling resources for the retreat was to align the agency Staff and Volunteers for improved performance on emergency response and coordination as the year 2023 set in.

He explained that the Governor of Yobe State HE Hon Mai Mala Buni CON had as part of his policy pronouncement in July 2022 directed for the establishment of Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) at the local government level.

According to him the agency gave His Excellency’s policy pronouncements all the attention its deserved and comprehensive concept was developed to that effect.

Responding the Executive Secretary of Kano SEMA Comrade “Dr” Saleh Aliyu Jili expressed his readiness to always interact with the YOSEMA and share ideas for improved service delivery in disaster management.

Kano ES and Directors took time and explained how Kano is responding to disaster with more emphasis on prevention, Enlightenment and Sensitization. He further said already LEMC across 44 LGAs have been constituted. He thank Yobe SEMA for the visit and assure for future collaboration.

Participants were allowed to ask few questions and detailed answers were granted.
