Courts denies Sheikh Abduljabbar Kabara bail

The Upper Shari’a Court sitting in Kano State has rejected the bail application of Abduljabbar Shaikh Nasiru Kabara.

In today’s sitting, the new defense counsel to Abduljabbar Kabara, led by Muhammad Umar, applied for his bail on the ground that the accused person’s family were facing difficulties as a result of his absence.

The defense counsel added that if the accused person is granted bail, he can have time to defend himself properly.

The prosecution counsel, led by Suraj Saida, objected to the defense counsel’s bail plea, noting that the offence is a capital offence that is not bailable under the law except in exceptional circumstances.

The presiding judge, Ibrahim Sarki Yola, ruled that there were no exceptional circumstances for the court to grant the accused person bail and ordered that he should continue to be remanded in the correctional centre.

The court also adjourned the case to 14th October 2021.
