IGP appoints Kyari’s replacement in the IGP- IRT

The Inspector General of Police IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+) assured Nigerians that Intelligence Response Team will remain dedicated to its cause. 

This is contained in a press release announcing the appointment of DCP Tunji Disu as the new head of IRT. Tunji substituted DCP Abba Kyari who was suspended pending an investigation of fraud allegation unveiled on Kyari last week. The press release issued by CP Frank Mba the Force Public Relations Officer, has reported The IGP admonishing the new head to be professional and competence in discharging his duty. 

“ The IGP has charged the new Head of the IRT to demonstrate his professional competence in his leadership of the unit.” 

The appointee was a former Commandant of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos state before his appointment. He was also a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operation, Force Headquaters, Abuja among others. DCP Tunji was a one time Commander of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the African Union (AU) Peace Keeping Mission in Dafur, Sudan. 

The cop according to CP Mba studied English at Lagos State University. He obtained Masters Degree in Public Administration from Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State. He has however, attended numerous professional and tactical courses home and abroad like the Strategic leadership Command Course at Police Staff College, Jos, Forensic Investigations Criminal Intelligence Course at University of Lagos, Internet Fraud Training at the Cambridge University, UK.
