His Royal Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwisi, Ojaja II, has bestowed the traditional title of “Obapero of Ife-Odua” on Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed (Matawallen Maradun).

The Ooni announced the award of the title to the governor when he paid him a courtesy call in his house in Abuja on Friday.

This is contained in a statement singed by the governor’s special adviser on public enlightenment, media and communications, Zailani Baffa, and made available to SkyDaily on Friday.

According to the statement, the title which literally means “the peace maker”, will be formally bestowed on the governor in the next few weeks.

The statement added that the Ooni extolled the good virtues of Governor Matawalle as a de-tribalized leader and politician, pointing out that his good intention was responsible for his success in bringing peace to the troubled state he inherited.

The Ooni said the plans of Governor Matawalle to revolutionize the mining sector in the state is a unique and courageous approach which will turn the fortunes of the country around.

Responding, Governor Bello Mohammed expressed his gratitude to the monarch for the title bestowed on him and promised to be in Ife as soon as possible, for the turbaning ceremony.

Governor Matawalle said that with the new arrangement for the development of the mining sector by his administration, Zamfara state will in the next few months be among the richest states in the federation.
