As a people of a common race, whose land and social progress lies in the quality of their peaceful coexistence, it is a matter of necessity for a leader to use the resources at his disposal to ensure the actualization of a habitable atmosphere for the governed.

Let’s weigh the effort of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Muhammad Abdulkadir, and his determination towards the actualization of the widely spoken slogan “NEW-BAUCHI”, which putting the whole state under security scrutinization for a lasting solution is part of that responsibility.

I can’t sum up everything related to restrategizing of security that the Bala-led administration executed or initiated in a single article. But there are some major changes we have experienced in the state and other bolder decisions taken by the governor which portrayed the governor’s zealousness to surmount the security challenges on the ground, as well as the ones that subsequently pop up on a serial basis.

Recall that, herders/farmers’ crisis was one of the challenging insecurity situation in some parts of the state. It makes the innocent inhabitants of those areas vulnerable to becoming the victims of the crisis.

As reported by Lawal Muazu, Special Assistant on New media, Governor Bala on Friday, September 25th, received the reports of the administrative committee of inquiry on land dispute between herders/farmers which he constituted. The committee investigated the root cause of the crisis in the areas of Misau Local Government and handed over the reports compiled to His Excellency.

Air commodore Tijjani Baba Gamawa, the Chairman of the committee, while handing over the reports said, they proceeded to Misau since their inauguration till the completion of the assignment in order to find out the truth about the happenings, which will surely help them excel in the compilation of a genuine reports.

The committee said about 21 memorandum and 27 witnesses appeared for submission. The State’s Government commended the committee and vowed to use the reports appropriately to avert the reoccurrence of such clashes and ensure an administrative framework on forest and grazing reserves to ensure transparency and accountability in the allocation of lands.

At this juncture, it’s also good to mention the inauguration of the Community Policing Committee by the Governor — it also worths commendation. The State’s Police Commissioner, critical stakeholders, and traditional leaders were all in collaboration and support of the governor to solve the security challenges facing the communities.

The desired objectives of the initiative is to work with relevant security agencies to serve as a tool in solving the contemporary security challenges, and also to complement the efforts of the police in provision of the state’s internal security.

Also on 23/09/2020, as reported by Lawal Muazu, special Assistant (New media), the governor received the new GOC of 3 division of the Nigerian army in the Government House, he commended their tireless efforts and other security agencies for strengthening the security in the state. And also called for relocation of the Nigerian Army Barracks Bauchi, and promised full support for the smooth take-off of the new barracks.

And lastly, the Governor appealed for permanent surveillance in Jos road to address security challenges in the area, and expressed his administration’s readiness to support the army to perform its constitutional responsibilities.

I will leave many stones unturned if I don’t mention the very recent implementation of a roads traffic management agency, which is likely to be named (BAROTA) in Bauchi, where the Governor signed a bill for the establishment of the body.

The creation of this Roads Traffic Management Agency is undoubtedly a booster to the state’s economy and the internally generated revenue, and a key to job creation which will drastically reduce the youth’s unemployment rate – which is also a great threat to our communities, for an ideal mind is a devil’s workshop.

I’m sure, with no iota of doubt, Some of the examples cited in this article, could’ve thrown some light on the goodwill of his Excellency, governor Bala, in actualizing the creation of a lasting solutions in the security sector across Bauchi state.
