Adamawa Poly risks closure over alleged arms discovery in Mosque

The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt Hon Umaru Fintiri may likely shut down the state polytechnic in Yola (SPY) over the alleged discovery of arms inside mosque within the school environs.

Skydaily has discovered that the Department of State Services (DSS) attention was drawn to investigate the alleged arms stockpile inside the mosque by a non academic staff who sort anonymity.

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the polytechnic was not aware of the security breach within the school until the arrival of the Department of State Services (DSS). Further investigations revealed that the arms were relocated when the CSO discovered and reported to the rector, Professor Ibrahim Umar.

To properly address the issue and ensure students safety the school management without delayance ordered the mosque committee to shut it down until further notice as tension was gathering in the school campus.

The school Rector, Prof. Umar admitted the closure of the mosque to the press but denied arms discovery inside it.

He said “It is true that the mosque inside the polytechnic in Yola has been closed for now. This is because the school management discovered that some people were coming from outside the school to sleep inside the mosque.” He said.
